In this episode, I talk about the concept of reparenting—how we can give ourselves the care and nurturing we may have missed in childhood. I explore how unmet childhood needs shape our behaviors, emotions, and self-perception as adults, and how reparenting helps us heal those wounds. I also look at what the Bible says about healing from our past, encouraging us to become who God has called us to be.

21. Waiting Seasons + How To Do Them Well
Friday Oct 11, 2024
Friday Oct 11, 2024
In this episode of The Own It Podcast, I explore what it looks like to be in a wilderness season. These seasons are marked by feelings of isolation, uncertainty, and transition. Often, things that used to work no longer do, and external progress seems to stall. However, the wilderness is also a season of preparation where God equips, refines, and reminds us of His presence and purpose in our lives. This episode highlights how to embrace and steward these wilderness seasons well, trusting in God's timing and process.
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
- Signs of a Wilderness Season: Feelings of loneliness, uncertainty, triggers resurfacing, life being quiet, and external opportunities not aligning.
- Purpose of the Wilderness:
- Equip: Building maturity for the next stage of life.
- Refine: Exposing areas like bitterness or insecurity that God wants to work on.
- Remind: Reestablishing God as the first priority.
- How to Steward the Wilderness:
- Every season has an end, just like winter turns to spring.
- Embrace the season and don't rush through it.
- Find your mission in the season and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

19. Let's Talk About Boundaries
Friday Sep 27, 2024
Friday Sep 27, 2024
In this episode, we're unpacking the essentials of boundaries and why they matter. I'm no stranger to the fact that everyone and their mom has a podcast about boundaries, but I'm answering a question I received on Instagram about how to set up appropriate boundaries with people who have broken trust with us.
HIGHLIGHTS:
What Are Boundaries?
- Boundaries protect what’s important to you. They define what’s okay and what’s not okay in relationships (e.g., not sharing everything with everyone, limiting topics with your boss, or creating space with family members who’ve hurt you).
Wisdom in Boundaries
- Sometimes, boundaries might hurt or offend others, but remember: you’re accountable to God for your life, not them. You’ve been given the responsibility to manage your relationships and well-being.
Common Misconceptions:
- Boundaries are selfish? Nope.
- Boundaries build walls? Not true.
- Boundaries stop intimacy? Actually, they create it.
In this episode, I share some of my own personal boundaries and unpack why and how I set them! Setting boundaries is all about clarity, safety, and creating space for love and connection in your life. Let’s get intentional with our limits and protect what matters most!

18. How to Hold Space for People
Friday Sep 20, 2024
Friday Sep 20, 2024
Hi friends! This episode is in response to a question I received on Instagram and it’s all about the art of holding space—creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where others feel truly heard and understood. It’s not about being the hero, but about being present for someone else.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Art of Listening: We’ll explore how to listen fully without trying to fix or judge. Empathy and silence are key tools, and I’ll share ways to validate and ask clarifying questions.
- Managing Your Own Emotions: Learn how to stay grounded while holding space, set boundaries, and debrief afterward.
- Holding Space Without Judgment: We discuss how to avoid bias, and the difference between empathy (connection) and sympathy (distance).
- Compassion vs. Codependency: We explore the fine line between supporting someone and taking on their emotional burden.
- Holding Space for Yourself: Don’t forget to care for your own emotional health after holding space for someone else.

16. From Surviving to Thriving -- my story
Friday Sep 06, 2024
Friday Sep 06, 2024
In this episode, I share my journey from living in survival mode to building a thriving life. For years, I was stuck in a cycle of burnout, juggling multiple jobs, school, and personal challenges, all while neglecting my mental, physical, and spiritual health. In this episode, I share my personal experience of pushing myself to a breaking point — working late nights, relying on caffeine and other stimulants, and eventually facing the inevitable crash.
HIGHLIGHTS:
What is Survival Mode: A state where you're constantly focused on getting through the moment, often at the expense of your long-term well-being. This mode is triggered by prolonged stress or trauma.
Signs of Survival Mode: These include constant stress, difficulty concentrating, exhaustion, emotional numbness, reactive behavior, short-term thinking, hypervigilance, avoidance of challenges, poor self-care, and feeling stuck.
Practical Steps to Thrive: Moving out of survival mode requires developing self-awareness, building emotional resilience, recovering from burnout, finding purpose, designing a life you love, and recognizing the importance of community and connection.
Thriving is a lifelong journey. It's about showing up, owning your life, and making intentional choices every day. 15. A Window Into My Heart: Dreams Fulfilled
Friday Aug 30, 2024
Friday Aug 30, 2024
Friends, this podcast episode is venturing off the notes I normally follow when I record a podcast and together, we are going to journey into some ponderings in my heart this season and some things I'm chewing on.
As I transition into a different season, my kids are growing up and God is doing a new thing in my heart that feels unclear and vulnerable. God is the God of growth and if we're not transitioning in life, we're not growing.
I've learned a lot in my journey of motherhood -- it's the season where I learned how to dream and where I watched God fulfill so many dreams in my heart that I never thought would happen. But because of these years, I'm in a space where I'm dreaming new dreams and it's SO VULNERABLE.
I hope this episode encourages you to stay on the course of your dreams in this season. You're exactly where you're supposed to me. Wait and watch -- He will come through for your dreams. I promise.

14. Build a Healthy Ecosystem in Your Life
Friday Aug 23, 2024
Friday Aug 23, 2024
In this episode, I reflect on Proverbs 4:23, emphasizing the importance of guarding our innermost being, as it influences every aspect of our lives—our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and actions. What’s happening inside of us will inevitably show up in how we live and walk out our lives.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Knowledge vs. Understanding: I explore the difference between knowledge—knowing God’s truths—and understanding—applying those truths in meaningful ways. Knowledge alone isn’t enough; we must also cultivate understanding to break free from destructive cycles and patterns.
- Breaking Strongholds: Many of us need to tear down strongholds and habits that keep us stuck. I discuss how Scripture guides us in recognizing and interrupting these patterns through intentional action.
- Healthy Ecosystems: I challenge you to think about your personal ecosystem—what does your “bubble of life” look like? Just like in nature, everything in our ecosystem is interconnected. I discuss how our body, soul, and spirit need to be nurtured to thrive.
- The Body: How are you caring for your physical health? Consider your diet, exercise, sleep, and the impact of stress or addictions on your well-being.
- The Soul: Reflect on your thoughts, emotions, and choices. Are there unresolved pains or unhealthy cycles keeping you stuck? Inner healing, forgiveness, and emotional regulation are crucial for a healthy soul.
- The Spirit: Your spirit is your life force, and it needs to be strengthened by God. Are you staying connected to Him through prayer, Scripture, and worship?
Scriptures Referenced:
- Proverbs 4:23
- Matthew 13:5-6, 20-21
- 1 Corinthians 3:5-7
- 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
- 1 Corinthians 5:6
I want to encourage you to be mindful of who and what you allow into your life. Small, daily choices matter—don’t compromise. Let’s commit to creating and nurturing a healthy ecosystem where we can truly thrive in every area of our lives.

This is a pre-recorded Q+A from my private community, Thrive Collective. Thrive is my community and heart education membership exclusively designed for women who are living in survival mode and want to thrive in every season of their life.
I put out a thread in our private Facebook group that said "Ask me anything," and these are some of the questions I'm answering:
How do I create healthy attachments with my kids?
How do I not pass on unhealthy, generational things to my kids?
How do you feel about medication for depression/anxiety?
How do I move truth and belief from my head to my heart?
…and more!
